課程概述

The main objective of this course is to provide graduate students with a solid foundation for designing, conducting, and evaluating experiments in social science. How to apply methodological concepts and techniques with particular emphasis on experimental research conceptualization, design, and analysis will be the focus of this course. Examples of the topics that we will address are causal inference, hypotheses testing, experimental designs, validity issues, recruitment issues, etc.  

課程目標
Through discussions on the published examples and homework assignments, students will learn to apply the methodological techniques introduced. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Understand how to design, conduct, and evaluate experiments
• Provide evidence supporting the reliability and validity of study measurements
• Understand social science experimental research ethics

The primary reading material for the course will be textbook chapters as an orientation to the various topics and literature to inform students about the issues that have refined the use of experimental methods in social science. In addition, there will be published journal articles in the domain of organizational behavior and marketing provided as examples. Each class will begin by brief discussions on the textbook chapters assigned and followed by the published examples demonstrated in the assigned journal articles.
